NELSONVILLE, May 17. - Funeral Services for Charles Figgins, 48, who died Wednesday night at his home, West Washington Street, were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Fort Street Church of Christ. The pastor, the Reverend John J. Scott conducted the services. He read the hymns: "Lead Kindly Light," and "Jesus Savior Pilot Me." Burial was made at Greenlawn. Funeral Is Saturday: NELSONVILLE, May 13. - Funeral services for Charles Figgins, 48, who died of a heart attack, Wednesday evening at his home, West Washington Street, will be held at the Christian Church, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mr. Figgins also leaves two sister: Mrs. Mildred Pendegrass, Chauncey, and Mrs. Gail Johnson, McKinney, Texas; and five brothers; joe, Ed, Willis, Donald and Rolland, all of Columbus.

Came here about 19 years ago from Columbus, Ohio and served two terms as Mayor of Inverness from 1959 to 1963 and was elected a four year term on the city council, February 1967, and was employed as a salesman at the Home Furniture Store in Inverness. He was of the Methodist Faith. Surviving are his wife, Edith Jane Figgins, Inverness; a brother, Edward W. Figgins, St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Dengrass of Chauncey, Ohio, and Mrs. Gail Johnson of Athens, Ohio. Funeral services for Mr. Figgins will be held at 11:15, Wednesday, October 18, in the chapel of the Porter Funeral Home, Inverness, with Reverned Raymond Hayes officiating. Appropriation for Edward Figgins.
Senate Bill No. 246
AN ACT
To reimburse Edward Figgins for the loss of a canal boat in the year 1863 by fire.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Ohio, That there be, and hereby is, appropriated out of any moneys to the credit of the general revenue fund in the state treasury, not otherwise appropriated, the sum of two hundred and twenty dollars, without interest, in full liquidation of his claim to reimburse Edward Figgins, of Nelsonville, Athens county, Ohio, for a canal boat burned in 1863, at the time of Morgan's raid through Ohio; said Morgan's men having burned said boat; said boat having been engaged in the transportation of Union soldiers on their way to Athens to join the Union army, Morgan's men having burned the boat in order to prevent its further use in this cause. The auditor of state is hereby authorized and required, upon the taking effect of this act, to draw his warrant upon the state treasurer, payable to Edward Figgins, for the sum of money thus appropriated.
Section 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

NELSONVILLE--Mrs. Edith P. Figgins, 61, 831 Chestnut St., died Saturday morning at Mount St. Mary Hospital where she had been a patient the last six weeks. She had been in failing health the last two years.
Born at Carbondale, she was a daughter of the late Marion and Electa Arnold. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Te WSCS, and the Nelsonville Athletic Association. She is survived by her husband, Darrell Figgins; six sons, Darrel, Jr., and Max, both of Nelsonville; Robert, Freedona, Ariz., Jerry of Lancaster; Keith of Logan; and Mike, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Wilson, Sugar Grove; Mrs. Patty Monk, Nelsonville, a brother, Floyd Arnold, of Nelsonville Route 2; five sisters, Mrs. Lydia Stanley and Mrs. Garnet Lightfritz, both of Carbondale; Mrs. Nell Hoak, New Marshfield; Mrs. Rose Davis, Marietta; Mrs. Margaret Collins, Princeton, Ind.; and 17 ...(unreadable, but probably grandchildren).
