Parties: VanLoren Arnold and Margaret Drain. Licence issued the 23rd day of December A.D. 1892, to the above named parties. Signed A.S. Bethel, Probate Judge.

Affidavit: The State of Ohio, Athens County, ss. George W. Arnold, having made application for a licence for Vanloren Arnold and Margret Drain, and being duly sworn, says that Vanloren Arnold is of the age of twenty-one years, and has no wife living, and that Margret Drain is of the age of eighteen years, a resident of said County, and has no husband living, and that said parties are not nearer kin than second cousins. Signed George W. Arnold. Sworn to and subscribed before me, this 23rd day of December A.D. 1892. Signed A.S. Bethel, Probate Judge.

Lulu FIGGINS and Charles H. DALTON Marriage License and Return

License Issued the 11th day of November 1892 to Charles H. Dalton and Lulu Figgins. Edwin D. Sayne, Probate Judge. Affidavit: "King Figgins, having made application for license for Charles H. Dalton and Lulu Figgins, and being duly sworn, says that Charles H. Dalton is of the age of twenty years, present father's written consent and has no wife living, and that Lulu Figgins is of the age of eighteen years, a resident of said County, and has no husband living, and that said parties are not nearer kin than second cousins. Signed King Figgins. Sworn to and subscribed before me, this 11th day of November AD 1892. Edwin D. Sayne, Probate Judge."

Figgins, is 17 years of age on the 16 day of July 1905, residence Nelsonville, Athens County, place of birth Athens County Ohio, occupation housekeeper, Father King Figgins, mother Ella Anders, not previously married. Signed Samuel L. Hubacher 11 April 1906, A.W. Lynch, Probate Judge. Signed King Figgins, giving consent.

Marriage Entry: Probate Court, Athens County, Ohio, April 11th 1906. Marriage Licence was this day granted to Samuel L. Hubacher and Bertha V. Figgins. A.W. Lynch.

Marriage Certificate: The State of Ohio, Athens County, ss. I do hereby certify, that on the 14th day of April AD 1906, I solemnized the Marriage of Mr. Samuel L. Hubacher with Miss Bertha V. Figgins. W.H. Miller, Minister.

Marriage Licence: Alonzo FIGGINS and Mary GROUNDS

"No. 7595 No. 11, February 28th AD 1882 Marriage License was this day granted to Alonzo Figgins and Mary Grounds, W.L.Aiken, Probate Judge. State of Ohio, Hocking County, ss. Personally came William Humphrey applying for License for Alonzo Figgins to be married to Mary Grounds who, being sworn, says that the said Alonzo Figgins is under the age of twenty-one years, and is unmarried; that the said Mary Grounds is over the age of eighteen years, and is unmarried; that she resides in Hocking County, and that he knows of no legal impediment to said marriage; and also that they are not nearer of kin than second cousins and William Humphrey being Father sworn says that E. Figgins, the Father ___willing to ____marriage. W.M.Barverd, Wm. Humphrey. Sworn to and subscribed before me, this 28th day of February AD 1882, W.J. Aiken, Probate Judge."

John MALONE and Elizabeth WOODS Marriage Return


John Malone and Elizabeth Wood appeared on 5 Aug 1872 before S.H. King, the Probate Judge for Athens County, stating that he is at least the age of 21 and she at least 18, that neither are kin nearer than first cousin, that neither have spouse living, and that there are no legal impediments preventing them from marrying. Figgins, age 16, from Nelsonville, born in Nelsonville, father King Figgins, mother Ella Andrews by consent of father and mother. Marriage performed by L.S. Carter, Minister of the Gospel on 25 October 1902 in Athens County, Ohio. Certificate obtained and signed by Harry F. Adams on 22 October 1902. License date: 22 October 1902. Returned and filed by A.S. Bethel, Judge of the Probate Court on 5 November 1902.
